The following events are currently planned for 2012 (more details to follow)
Classic Commercial Vehicle Rally
Easter Saturday / Sunday 7th / 8th April
This hugely popular free event will take place again (14th Year?!) over a number of sites in the Kirkby Stephen and Brough areas. At present, the list of exhibits comprises 52 buses, 122 lorries, 35 vans, 19 tractors, 26 army vehicles, 7 'Specials' + historic bicycles, stationary engines etc. KSE will be open on both days from 10am - 5pm. This year, we will have predominantly Lorries & Vans on the site - as usual, there will be no public parking at KSE (other than limited disabled visitor parking) with all visitors using the frequent, free vintage bus service which will stop at the Croglin Castle Public House at the top of the access road into the site. For visitors arriving by train, it is intended that the buses will meet all services at Kirkby Stephen West station.
At KSE, both the shop and buffet will be open - there will be the usual Tombola etc. On the railway front, we are awaiting the delivery of a coach, so it is now most likely that a regular passenger service will commence during the weekend of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations. However, the current intention is to have the Peckett in steam and the Planet (and hopefully also Class 20 169 and Class 37 674) operational and to provide some demonstration trains.
Queen's Diamond Jubilee Celebrations (possibly 1950's event)
Sunday 3rd / Monday 4th June
Full details of this event are yet to be finalised, but it is currently our intention to run a public passenger train service (Steam & Diesel) on both days.
Model Railway Show
Saturday 16th June
A number of layouts and traders have already been booked for this event - further details will be available nearer the time. It is also planned to operate a public passenger train service (Steam & Diesel) during the day.
Sunday 8th July
In view of the planned site development work taking longer than we had hoped, the Classic Car Rally has been put 'on hold' for this year. However, we still intend this to be a Passenger Train Operating Day (Steam & Diesel) and, if space is available, we hope that a small number of Classic Cars may attend.
Steam Rally
Sunday 22nd July
We intend that a public passenger train service will operate on each of these days.
Further operating days (and possibly special events) are likely to be added in due course.
